Our Curriculum
At EK Outreach Services, we believe that learning should be engaging, relevant and personalised to the individual needs of each student. Our unique EKOS curriculum embodies this philosophy, offering a comprehensive and flexible approach to education that supports each student in achieving their full potential.

Building blocks of EKOS curriculum
Believe. Engage. Achieve.
Our unique EKOS curriculum embodies both our values and mission. The four building blocks of EKOS are:
E
Engage and Empower.
Students begin to engage in learning and their curriculum.
K
Knowledge.
Students begin to build on previous knowledge, filling the gaps and expanding their database.
O
Opportunity.
Students use what they have learnt to access opportunities they may not have had before: work experience, community events, examinations and possible transition back into a school setting.
S
Support and Success.
With the support and guidance from our team, students are able to achieve and succeed in acquiring the knowledge needed for their next steps.
The EKOS Approach
- Empowering Learners: We encourage students to follow their interests, so they feel like they have a say in what they’re learning, working towards their goals and making choices about their education.
- Building Knowledge and Skills: We focus on essential academic skills as well as practical life skills that prepare students for success in their professional and personal lives.
- Exploring Opportunities: We offer a wide range of subjects and activities, allowing students to discover their passions and interests.
- Providing Support: We offer individualised support, choosing specific teachers and mentors based on the needs of each student. Our teams support students to overcome overcome any challenges and achieve their goals.
Our Learners
At EK Outreach Services, our learners’ unique needs are at the heart of what we do. We use a constructed core offer based on our building blocks of success (EKOS) and the adaptations required to ensure an effective curriculum is planned. Each learner’s curriculum is delivered through our planned curriculum approach and is focused on what we know about them, what they want and need and the knowledge, visions and priorities of parents, carers and other professionals. Our learners have differing and often unsettled educational backgrounds, including unmet/unidentified triggers and needs.
This sits alongside their different and often rapidly changing needs, both socially and academically. Whilst it is important that we give all learners the opportunity to have a set of common experiences – with high aspirations for all, we must make sure that the needs of our learners are met by the adaptations we make to the opportunities provided. Our planned learning prepares young people well for their next steps in life and we actively incorporate life skills and preparation for adulthood into all student programs via our mentors.
Primary Curriculum
Our Primary Curriculum is designed to provide a solid foundation for learning, whilst nurturing each child’s unique interests and abilities. We believe that learning should be enjoyable and engaging and we use a variety of teaching methods to cater to different learning styles. We also run an EYFS curriculum for those students who are not yet able to access our Primary Curriculum.
Key Areas of Focus:
- Literacy and Numeracy: Developing strong reading, writing and maths skills.
- Creative Arts: Encouraging self-expression and imagination through art, music and drama.
- Science and Technology: Sparking curiosity and exploration of the world around us.
- Personal, Social and Emotional Development (PSED): Building self-confidence, resilience and empathy.
Personalised Learning Plans and Outcomes (PLPO)
We recognise that every child learns differently, so we create personalised learning plans and outcomes that address each student’s specific needs and goals. Our teachers work closely with families to ensure that every child is supported and challenged in a way that is right for them.
